I read all the reviews about this Panasonic phone and finally (since it was the closest thing to what I wanted: a replacement for the TX3175 we'd had for 18 years) decided to order it. And it is fabulous! But at first I thought some of the complaints people had left were valid ... until my brilliant husband helped me figure out solutions. The phone does NOT stick out from the wall! One has to take off the adaptor from the back (it comes with "Desk Up" showing) and turn it around AND (this is what they didn't do) attach it at the BOTTOM of the back so that there are two holes to fit onto the wall bracket! And the people who complained about the receiver falling off? That did happen when we hadn't attached the back correctly. Once everything is in place, this fits quite snuggly against the kitchen wall and the receiver is 100% secure. Also, when you attach the phone correctly (with TWO holes used, not the one I originally put it on), there will be no wiggling at all. It's easy to program the phone from the instructions, and I can't be more thrilled with this solid Panasonic phone. Yes, it doesn't have a speaker on the phone, but because everything else (a very clear Caller ID screen) is great, I will make speaker calls from another phone. Also, Amazon suggests buying a very long cord, and it is necessary on the kitchen wall, BUT we just took off the long cord from our old Panasonic phone, dipped the cord (but not the ends) in Fantastic and all the dirt came off and we rinsed it and now it's just like a new one. Yay!For $24.44, you can't beat this phone. And the last thing, for a kitchen wall that is not near an electrical outlet, having this phone use only batteries is terrific. We buy the Duracell Ultra AA batteries for our iMac mouse and know that they last much longer than normal batteries, so I'm not afraid of needing many batteries with this Panasonic KX-TSC11W phone.
